Trader Joe’s Organic Roasted Vegetable Pizza Review – Trader Joe’s loves pizza. Their pizza section in the freezer area takes up like a 1/3 of the total freezer space. I’m kidding, but it seems that way sometimes. Obviously, they sell a lot of frozen pizzas. In typical Trader Joe’s fashion, they have to put their own twist it. This is one of those pizzas!

First, let me say that I am a meat eater, but a lot of meat on a pizza turns me off. Pepperoni I like enough, but give me a good margherita pizza any day over a crappy pepperoni pizza any day of the week. If you have been following this blog or just poking around for the first time, you’ll see that I talk about pizza a lot. It’s because I really, really like it! Now, it’s kind of a hobby. But even I don’t always have time to make fresh pizza dough and keep a stock of frozen pizza in the fridge. I have two big strapping boys that need to eat.

Having said that, I can’t get my kids to eat this pizza. It’s got zucchini and eggplant, which I absolutely love, but my kids won’t eat it. We call this type of pizza and “adult pizza”, Ha! 😉 My wife and bake this and make a salad and you can’t have a cheaper, more nutritious dinner than that. The preparation is similar to every other Trader Joe’s frozen pizza. Heat the oven up to 425 F degrees and throw the pizza directly on the middle rack. Do not use a pizza stone. I have always had good luck with this method, although there are some I have heard that it gets messy and toppings fall off and burn. You could use some foil or a baking sheet if you want. I find that it takes a couple of minutes longer with a a baking sheet.

The pizza comes out with a plethora of marinated vegetables on top. If you love your

veggies, this is for you. When I mentioned before this pizza had the signature Trader Joe’s twist, the veggies are it. You probably won’t find another frozen pizza in the USA that has such high quality marinated vegetables on top unless you make it yourself. The crust on this pizza is typical with their other Made In Italy pizzas, it’s a little dry and crackery, but it works well here. Since the dough is pre-baked, it’s hard to get that pillowy type of crust you get from fresh baked. The sauce is well done and not much to complain about there. My only minor complaint is the lack of cheese. Cheese is probably the most expensive ingredient on the pizza so there never seems enough. If you have some Quattro Formaggio laying around, I would sprinkle some on top. Maybe a dash of pepper flakes to boot with a drizzle of olive oil.

I keep a couple of these stocked in our freezer for days when I want a quick lunch or dinner. A very healthy option compared to say a pepperoni pizza. I would easily buy this again!
